Ars Macabre dolls are one of a kind art dolls, not play dolls. They are recommended for adults and teens age 14 and over. Porcelain and composition dolls are painted with acrylic, chalk pastels, acrylic inks, and water-based crackle media. Paint is sealed between layers with varnish or Krylon clear acrylic. After completion, dolls are sealed with 3-5 coats of varnish.
Do not allow painted surfaces to come into contact with solvents such as alcohol or acetone. Dolls may be spot cleaned with water and a soft cloth, but should not be immersed in water.
Vintage doll outfits have been distressed with dyes and inks. Although the colors are set, some color may bleed if the clothing is immersed in water. As such, vintage distressed outfits should not be considered washable and should be spot cleaned only. For modern doll outfits, follow manufacturer’s instructions.
Unless noted otherwise, wigs are made from synthetic fiber and may be vintage or modern. Mohair skin wigs are made from ethically-sourced, professionally dyed Tibetan mohair.
